Update: 20 mg Syringe Has Changed

Pharmacists will no longer be able to dispense a 10mg dose in a 20mg syringe. Rather, if the prescription calls for 10mg dose, you will need to provide your patient with a 10mg syringe set at the maximum dose of 10mg. Full details.

NDC Numbers For DIASTAT® AcuDial™ (diazepam rectal gel)

DIASTAT AcuDial is available in a Twin Pack of 2 pre-filled configurations:

  • 10mg DIASTAT AcuDial delivery system with a 4.4 cm tip (delivers doses of 5, 7.5 and 10* mg)
    NDC # 0187-0658-20
  • 20 mg DIASTAT AcuDial delivery system with a 6.0 cm tip (delivers doses of 12.5, 15, 17.5 and 20* mg)
    NDC # 0187-0659-20

Original DIASTAT® is also available:

  • " 2.5** mg DIASTAT
    NDC # 66490-650-20

* Even if maximum dose is prescribed, both syringes must be locked.
** 2.5mg system does not require dialing and locking prior to dispensing.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

DIASTAT® AcuDial™ (diazepam rectal gel) is a gel formulation of diazepam intended for rectal administration in the management of selected, refractory patients with epilepsy, on stable regimens of AEDs, who require intermittent use of diazepam to control bouts of increased seizure activity for patients 2 years and older.

In clinical trials with DIASTAT®, the most frequent side effect was somnolence (23%). Less frequent adverse events reported were dizziness, headache, pain, vasodilation, diarrhea, ataxia, euphoria, incoordination, asthma, rash, abdominal pain, nervousness and rhinitis (1%-5%).
